Art's Skateland 1222 Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA. Often Archie roller skated with his friends in the Archie Comic Books. I like this Archie better than the modern version. Strange, look at Archie's skates. Did the artist forgot to color in the skates? I think so! Source: Archie Comics.

Art's Skateland Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania back the day. I attempted to find more information however, I found this.. several stickers/decal on this rink and from a book that every town has one. Well, everything seemed to point to 1940s till 1960s. According to the book, they said the building still stands however, I see so much development even in 2012 Google Maps, many new buildings. it is their "Automobile Row" meaning a boulevard or street full of automobile dealerships. Many towns, cities...they usually are set right by each other. This looks like about 20 dealers including the independent/used car dealerships.
Well, I did further researching. The book said about the restaurant, The Harmon Villa which was just passed Art's Skateland on the same road and it did say just east of Belvoir Road. For that restaurant, it became Lombardi's and Lombardi's went out of business too. Torn down in late 1970s or early 1980s. I looked for that street with Ridge Pike, I found the storage place on the map the same as the clue was mentioned in the book.
The book said it still stands but I looked. Nothing. Must be torn down after the author who wrote that book and said it was still standing. However, I discovered that the book was being vague on the location. Upon further detail and research. It was where the car dealership is. Just few doors down thanks to old USGS maps!
I believe it was addressed as 1222 Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
I could not find any more information regarding to the rink.
Of course rinks do have sad side stories that leave marks on. This rink had the watchman shoot a youth during a robbery in progress. Three youth broke in and the watchman heard a noise and then he shot the boy who was 16 years old at the time.
Arthur Schlagel Sr. who was the owner and operator of the rink. Now I could not find out the dates. But the stickers, the decals apparently showed more like 1940s and 1950s while the USGS photos in 1948, 1950 throughout 1960s showed the rink was there until it was demolished for another business there that shaped like a wedge according to USGS maps. Then it was demolished again for a modern car dealership. Before that, I could not get older aerial photographs. The Vintage Photos website was a no-go because they did not have the film to match that street they took. I found bunch of old gas stations that were taken back then. Anyone has more information, please provide. Thank you.
Arthur and his family operated the rink including his wife, Mabel, his son, Leroy C. Schlagel
The Interior.
Likely it was Maple wood floor. From that time period, it would.
The Exterior.
It appeared to be Segmental Arch. Likely Bowtie Arch. With Cinderblocks walls. The photo showed it appeared to be white building because of the balance of whiteness in Black-and-White pictures. Or close. Snow-White color? Cloud? or very light color other than White.
Their road to the parking lot was a bit of unusual. S-shaped from directly front of the rink and curve to the left as you drive toward parking lot and you drive toward parking lot and park. But walk on the sidewalk to the front of the building to enter.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. I provide what information from other websites, skaters, and operators and it may end up with different results between two (or more) sources. It is not our responsible for errors we caused. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
