American Roller Rink was operating at 5200 Sand Hill Rd., Amanda, Ohio but right now, it is Amanda Roller Rink namely after the town. I could not find any information regarding to American but can explain a bit with Amanda which is STILL operational.
I found the name American Roller Rink from one of my list but I could not find any information but only found for Amanda Roller Rink. Was it a typo?
If not, then it was an American Roller Rink.
There are two sources with two different dates and different people. Dun & Bradstreet got it listed as 1977 when it was registered. But Bizapedia had it October 4, 1995. Was it different owner at the time and had name changed? It was possible. It may have been American Roller Rink but according to the rink website, it says 1977. Where the American comes from? Before 1977? Possible.
But anyway, for the Amanda which is still operational, and I recommend locals and even distance to check out this rink and support them.
The 1977 establishment was operated by Sue McMillen and the 1995 version registration and opening was Marlina Sue Mcmillen and Rick Snider. Is this the same Sue or the daughter of Sue? Good question. Children do buy from their parents to inherit the business. Sometimes pass it down without purchase but still need to register because it would be new ownership. It made sense because it was 18 years later which is pretty much standard for an operator to run a rink this long.
BINGO! The owner said on Google Reviews to a customer that the rink was actually was operated for 70 years and the owner wrote this in 2019. That makes it 1949. The old building as seen on the map... it made sense to be that long time. So, I knew I was right that it WAS American Roller Rink in Amanda, Ohio after all!
The Interior.
I do not know what the original look was but I am sure they had it different colors interior. But before the current owners renovated in around 2018, the interior was mostly Gold Yellow on walls around the rink and had other colors including Blue, Lime Green, etc. But right now, its Monochromic look with Mostly White and Black base wall around with White LED lights geometric patterns on the ceiling. The murals on the wall are of course, Pac-Man and the ghosts.
The Exterior.
It has that old school style Cinderblock building with steps style fake roof façade front wall. I do not know what the original was like but Amanda Roller Rink today has Medium Gray back ground with a couple of stripes colors and symbol of
