All three courtesy of Google Map. Starting with top to bottom: April 2008 followed by April 2011, and then November 2019. They added the storage shed up front of the former rink between 2008 and 2011 but for the new garages in the old rink building in the back has been added in 2019. Sorry that Google Map did terrible job in 2008 with the photograph. I had to adjusted to straightened and adjusted as much as I can. Nothing I can do.
Six photos courtesy of Keller Williams Real Estate. You still can see the ghost of the former rink in this storage facility. Quite clearly still there.
Aggie’s Skate Connection 5538 W Main St, Houma, LA
Aggie’s Skate Connection 5538 W Main St, Houma, LA was another rink with same name but this was on West Main Street.
This rink was also opened and operated by the same people as other Aggie's Skate Connection such as that one in same town of Houma.
There are not much information except for the building thanks to a huge number of real estate websites showing exact same copy and paste from Keller Williams Real Estate that they are the one responsible for the leasing this year because they just renovated since last year to expand their storage rental spaces.
After the rink closed, you see, they were sold to a storage company and they only build that new secondary building but when they finished it during 2010s, then they finally renovated the former rink building in 2019 according to Google Map.
It is available to lease since start of March 2020, just before COVID mess.
The Interior.
The interior thanks to the Keller Williams realtor who took pictures recently has shown age old interior shell of a former rink that it still have bathrooms there, old snack bar and skate rental still there. Steel shelves are kind of in the way blocking them and they are easily covered when renters put things there.
The half wall is still there. It is painted Snow White. I think they may have painted that just for the storage facility.
Sadly, the Maple wood floor has been long removed because I can tell with the outline of the rink floor against the slab Concrete floor as you can see in the picture. The wood would level with the carpet floor. Yes, the carpet is gone too. Sadly. Anyone has photos, please do share!
The interior appearance does not match to the exterior at all. The interior walls showed very mixed of styles that do not match at all. It has that Miami Vice Colors of 1980s while the style of the snack bar right down to the posts that supporting the 1960s/70s style wood shingles canopy at the snack bar. Those posts were very colonial style. I recalled even my bed back the day as a kid had Colonial style similar to that but in shorter version, of course. I can image the style. Yuck. Colonial Miami Vice style? I rather the Art Deco Miami Voice and I was glad I was on Collins Ave in SoBe in the Art Deco district the same as seen in dozens movies and the TV series.
The Exterior.
Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled with Orange Bricks front Commercial Building with Gable with Faux Mansard roof lines. It had similar design of the mansard with Gable roof as many local rinks in Louisiana. Many rinks that just a few of those families owned. They are all related one way or another.
The front facing the road had pretty much Orange-Bricks appearance with windows and a door. Looks more like another residential at a rink. Seemly common at rinks that way in that state.
But in 2019, those beautiful Orange Bricks are gone, they are replaced by large garage doors for storage and new Tan colored Sheet Metal walls. Only left is the front side corner that bears the bricks. Now that building has 14 storage doors. You will see those in the photos.
