The Outer Limits Roller Rink Spencer, Iowa. I do not have any address. No information on the internet except for an obituary and an email I received from one of the former DJ at the rink. I already made profile about the rink after The Outer Limits Roller Rink called, Dream World Skating. You can check the profile for that rink after this one because Dream World Skating was set up after The Outer Limits was sold and name changed.
Here are some of the information related to Dream World Skating --
It was opened in 1990 according to Manta. That would be Willa Jean Dobson who bought the rink and opened in 1991 to 2010 when it was sold to a sporting store.
The only thing that the sporting store was registered as LLC was in 2010. But the article was in year 2000 -- I think!
The email I received days ago before today (02 May 2022)--
This is what he has to say.
The Spencer, IA roller rink was named The Outer Limits when it first opened in late 1978 (I believe).
The owners had the Spencer High School Speech teacher put the word out during class that they were looking for Disc Jockeys to play records, run the lights, and make announcements. A few auditioned and I was one of them that got the part time job.
They had an amazing sound system and we played vinyl and cassette. Worked there until I graduated in 1980 and went to college.
It was a small rink with some kind of blue floor (something over concrete I guess).
It was great fun.
- Mike
Anyone has more or other information, please let me know! Thank you.
UPDATE! -- 02 MAY 2022.
I got confirmation from someone from the email about this rink. It is confirmed that it was at the same location where Dream World roller rink was.
I believe that the Outer Limits Roller Rink was purchased and it’s name was changed (although I don’t know the year that happened). The only thing I could locate, on the Internet, that confirms the original name of the rink I worked at in Spencer is the brief mention of it in this obituary of the nice lady that opened the rink when I got the job. I can tell you that the Outer Limits rink was right there in that exact area. I went back to Spencer for a high school reunion in 2000. At that time I could see the outline of a removed sign on the outside of the roller rink and I think it said DreamWorld.
Thanks Mike!

Some states allow purple paint on fence which means they even have guns on their property and have rights to shoot you. Please DO NOT attempt to enter property without permission!
For abandoned rinks, after you receive permission, do WEAR safety OSHA equipment including a safety glasses, pair of safety gloves, an orange vest or a jacket, and a construction helmet.
Thank you for understanding.
Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. I provide what information from other websites, skaters, and operators and it may end up with different results between two (or more) sources. It is not our responsible for errors we caused. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
